This series consists of copies of letters sent to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs. The records also include financial statements and reviews; copies of annual reports; acknowledgements of receipt of directives; memorandums; and quarterly and monthly school reports related to Devil's Lake Agency, Turtle Mountain Agency, and Fort Totten Indian School. The records provide information on matters of Office of Indian Affairs policy relating to procurement; loss and replacement of property; personnel management; controversies and legal matters; Indian rights and education; tribal enrollment; inheritance and succession; treaties; and local investigations.
